1. Why am I having problems downloading the templates?
One problem that happens a lot is that the browser does not recognize the .pdb files because they are not a registered MIME type.

On a Windows platform:

* Netscape users: hold the shift key down while you click on the download button (the small blue dot).
* Internet Explorer users:  right click on the download button and select "Save target as".

On a Mac platform, click on the "Download file" link and hold the mouse button down until the menu pops up. Select "Save File as" from the menu and save the file.

In all cases, please make sure you save the file with the correct extension: .pdb.

2. I use software on my desktop for my Memo items, is it possible to synchronize them with Memo PLUS?
Yes! Memo PLUS uses the same database that the built-in memo pad uses. Therefore, all synchronization software will work with it.

3. The drawing tools do not seem to work. When I try to select them, nothing happens.
This is a problem with LeftHack. LeftHack is not compatible with ToDo PLUS or Memo PLUS drawings. The author of LeftHack is aware of the problem. Please contact him for a fix.

4. Are the versions of Memo PLUS and ToDo PLUS that are in the Dilbert Pack eligible for free upgrades and support?
No. These products are supported and distributed by Macmillan Digital Publishing. We are not able to distribute them.

5. Are the drawings backed up?
Yes, the drawings are backed up. You can see them in the backup folder of your desktop, the file is named "MemoPlusDrawingsDB". This file contains your drawings. After a crash, they will automatically be restored into your PalmPilot. You can use the Template Editor from Windows to view them on your desktop.

6. Can I save a memo that is larger than 4k?
On the Tungsten T3, E, T5, LifeDrive, and Treo devices, you can save a memo that is up to 32K in size. Other devices are limited to 4K. This a limit imposed by the desktop Palm software and we currently do not have a workaround.

7. Why do I have a greater number of Memo PLUS records than built-in Memo records when I look in the Memory application?
It is perfectly normal to have a greater number of records when you check Memo PLUS in the Memory application. Indeed, the total number of records shown for Memo PLUS equals the number of actual Memo items plus the number of note or drawing models plus the number of drawings plus the number of categories!

8. The information in my desktop software does not appear in Memo PLUS or ToDo PLUS.
Does your desktop information appear in the built-in task list or memo pad?

* If yes, then you likely have a filter chosen in Memo PLUS or ToDo PLUS that is hiding the information. Make sure that "All" categories are chosen, and that in ToDo PLUS, "All" dates are chosen as well.

* If no, then you likely have your HotSync settings turned off. On Windows, start your desktop software and choose Custom from the HotSync menu. On the Mac, start the HotSync Manager and choose Conduit Settings from the HotSync menu. Make sure that two way synchronization is selected for the memo pad and task list conduits.

9. The information in Memo PLUS or ToDo PLUS does not appear on my desktop computer.
Only information supported by the conduit will appear on the desktop. Currently all conduits will support the task information and notes, but will not synchronize the drawings or alarms.

If your tasks and notes do not appear in your desktop software, make sure that your HotSync settings are not turned off. On Windows, start your desktop software and choose Custom from the HotSync menu. On the Mac, start the HotSync Manager and choose Conduit Settings from the HotSync menu. Make sure that two way synchronization is selected for the memo pad and task list conduits.

13. When I try to do anything in Memo PLUS or ToDo PLUS, it crashes. I am running on a Visor Prism and I am running add-on software like Jot.
This is a known issue with some programs, especially Jot. We are going to work around it in the next release, but please also contact the manufacturer of your add-on software. As a temporarily work-around, deactivate the part of your add-on software that shows your pen strokes on the screen.

14. Will your products work in FLASH?
Flash memory is a form of non-volatile memory that was found in some earlier Palm devices (Palm V and earlier), and which you could get to using products like JackFlash. All products except for ThoughtManager can be loaded into FLASH. In order for the programs to work properly, you will need to load them into RAM, open them, then move them into FLASH.

15. After installing, I still have the trial version installed on my palm! What do I do?
If your installing from an EXE file (todoplus.exe, memoplus.exe, tripdlx.exe, etc...), you will find a copy of your Palm program installed in a directory in your computer.

The default paths are as follows:

C:\Program Files\Hands High Software\MemoPLUS\memoplus.prc
C:\Program Files\Hands High Software\ThoughtMan\Thoughtmanager.prc
C:\Program Files\Hands High Software\ToDoPLUS\todoplus.prc
C:\Program Files\Trip\Trip.prc - this is the same path for TripDeluxe also.

Simply double-click on the ".prc" file (memoplus.prc, todoplus.prc, etc.) to load into the Palm Install Tool, then hotsync.

The install gives you an option to copy the files in other locations, so your path may be different.

16. Why are my alarms showing for tasks or memos that are not private?
Palm OS 3.5 introduced the concept of locking your device when it shuts down. You can set this feature in the Security application. If your device is locked, all alarms will show "Private" to prevent anyone else from seeing your information when the device is locked.

17. I got a new handheld. How do I transfer all of my programs and information?
All the information should restore to your Palm when you hotsync the new one. There are three very important things to follow to make sure all of your old stuff gets on to your new handheld:

1.) Hotsync your old Palm one last time.

Reason: To make sure all your data is current.

2.) You install the new Palm Desktop software into the same directory that you installed the old Palm Desktop software.

Reason: There is a backup directory in the Palm folder (more precisely, Palm\username\backup) that stores most of the programs and data of programs you installed into the Palm, including your preferences file. Also, all of your core info (ToDo List, MemoPad AddressBook Datebook) is located in your Palm directory (each in their own folders, in your Palm\username directory).

3.) You MUST use the same Palm username you previously used.

Reason: All your data is located under your username. This shouldn't be much of an issue, since there is no username assigned to a new Palm device. Simply slip in the cradle (after installing all the appropriate software) and press the hotsync button. It will ask you if you would like to use a former username or create a new one, you will want to use the former username. Doing so should install all of the programs and data that was previously on your old palm onto the new one.
