Hands High Software, Inc. Ships Trip Deluxe for the Palm Computing Platform

2000. Hands High Software, an award winning publisher of productivity software for the Palm Computing(tm) platform, today announced the release of Trip(tm) Deluxe, an advanced version of its award winning automobile mileage
tracking software.
Trip Deluxe lets users track their automobile mileage for business expenses and tax deductions on their Palm devices, and then enables them to easily create a customizable mileage report in Microsoft
Excel. Trip Deluxe is based on Trip, which won the ZDNet award for the top travel application of 1998.
"I created Trip to take the hassle out of tracking automobile mileage.", explains Shannon Pekary, president
of Hands High Software, Inc. "I tried tracking my mileage using a paper log, but I quickly gave up. Trying to track mileage for both business, real estate, and non-profit reasons was drudgery. On top of that, I sometimes
drove my wife's car, which made tracking the mileage near impossible. Trip makes tracking mileage easy."
Beta tester Tim Merris said, "I use Trip as a regional sales rep. covering 5 states. The biggest drudgery
is keeping a log of mileage for the IRS. Now with Trip Deluxe, it is a quick and easy task. I'm not an Excel expert, but Trip Deluxe does all the work and I simply push print."
Trip Deluxe uses a Palm device to
record trip details including the starting and ending mileage, the starting and ending dates and times, and the purpose of the trip. It supports tracking mileage on up to 15 different cars, and categorizing that mileage in up
to 15 categories. The beginning mileage of a new trip is automatically copied from the previous ending mileage, and the beginning date and time are automatically entered.
Trip Deluxe includes "conduit" software
that automatically exports the Trip data to a desktop computer and turns that data into a mileage report in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The mileage report can be customized to select the trips to be included in the report,
and select the columns to be shown.
Trip Deluxe for Windows requires Palm OS 2.0 or above, Windows 95 or above, and Microsoft Excel 97 or above. Trip Deluxe for Macintosh requires Palm OS 2.0 or above, Macintosh OS 8.0
or above, and Microsoft Excel 5.0 or above.
Trip Deluxe for the Palm Computing Platform is available immediately for $29.95 from the Hands High Software Web site (http://www.handshigh.com/). A free 30 day trial version
is also available.
The Hands High Software Web site also includes information on little known ways to save money tracking mileage. For example, the Web site lists tracking mileage for non-profit services including
donating blood, mileage related to adoption of a child, and mileage related to medical expenses as ways people can reduce their taxes by tracking their mileage.
